My 2017 rancher 420 4x4 manual shift has not even reached its second service yet due to extremely low hrs /miles...the problem is this. I let the battery run down/recharged it etc but when I cranked it although it fired right up and runs like normal it keeps flashing 5 slow immediately followed by 4 quick flashes of the check engine light. I can't find any referance to Code 54 so I'd be happy if someone could just tell me how to reset the goofy thing and see if it goes away. Thanks in advance for any guru that can help cuz I'm straight up lost at this point.lol

kinda confused here , sense when does a manual shift trx420 throw codes ?. only atvs that throw codes is electric shifts, or AT models. kinda a dumb question, but are you sure your atv is a manual shift model ?, or is there buttons on the left handle bar switch for pushing up and down to change gears ?.

only thing that comes to mind is maybe a throttle position sensor ?, fuel injector problem ?, or a speed sensor ?. unless your atv is an electric shift ??..lol.

So which lights are flashing? The gear position light or the wrench light?

do you have a service manual, as in that it should explain any codes if it throws them?
if NOT, maybe buy one, there good to have , if you plan to keep this atv a long time, will pay for itself over the yrs and then some?

It ended up being the sensor that tells it to shut off if u lay it up on its side...can't remember what it's called(shamefully I just read it too ?) but yeah it still has codes for ecm and for that sensor...fuel injection etc. Thanks to the manuals on PDF here on this site I was able to finally figure it out so...thank God for this forum and u guys for real !!

It was the actual check engine light Goober and yeah Shadree it's manual shift but the way my brain works sometime there's no such thing as a stupid question with me I assure u lol Mrbb I was able to download. PDF for 2014 which had the answer but yessir indeedy I'll be keeping this till it becomes one with the earth so I'll be ordering one soon..thank u all very much
