This winter i managed to crack the head unit of my bike, and i am curious as to What would be the technical name of the piece i have broke and how i should go about fixing it. i was told to just buy a used head unit off ebay but i would like to have more then one opinion.

I believe that whole piece is called the display, but it looks like all you would need is a lens if you can buy that part separate.

I don't remember the price, but I think those are pretty expensive.

No, not really, but if you are going to do that then I would get a piece of acrylic or lexan plastic and cut a piece out and glue it over the top of the cracked lens. That would keep water out of it.

sounds good, i will probably end up breaking the rest of the broken plastic and use as u said either acrylic or lexan plastic and glue it on so it looks a little better

here's what i would do..take the cover off..and get the rest of the broken piece out..i'm sure it's glued in real good..you may have a time getting it out..but..if it went in..then it will come out !...find the thinest piece of lexan you can find..cut the lexan about the same size..enough to cover the hole..with some kind of glue that will bond to the plastic..glue it from the underside..now..mind you..this is what i would do....i would even try to get almost a perfect match as to the hole size..but..thats me..lol
