After a pile of looking around on a popular website, we all know (CL), i ran upon what i thought might be a good scooter to buy. i figured at the least i could, buy the Rancher 02',4x4 trx350FM, do a little work on it (bearings,brakes,service fluids, ect.). make a bit, on the side, i could reach back and scratch. and have a 4wheeler i could ride round on till i cut it loose.
Well, after all that I now have a skoatch under $ 1,200 invested.
Appearently, the dirty SappSucker I got this thing from, aint got a bit of raisin. about a week ago i put her out there FOR SALE.
Yesterday, potential buyer was easin round the house on a test ride, started making a little rackit. needless to say, he said, "I'm gonna have to think about it pal."
Today, i got on it, and, honestly I'm nervous as hell to even start her again. sounds awful!. 5 minutes or 5 miles, i dont know how much longer its going to stay together.
I am more angry with myself than anything for not double,triple checkin out what i thought was a good purchase. But anyway...It is, what it is. movin on!
anyone out there have anything to recommend, id be greatful.
id like to have a used motor to set in.
if i can find parts for the right money, and not shoot myself in the foot.
I want to fix the bike in order to sell, that was the plan from the start.
just like you, I aint made of money.
Hard for me not to think without emotion on this one, so i really just need some sound advice yall.:icon_question:,:icon_censored:

knocking?... that really sucks. i was there a few months ago when the crook who sold me my rancher screwed me over when he told me the motor had never been worked on. it was smoking a little so when i took the motor aparts, i found after market pistons and rings.it was smoking because the crook did the work himself and didnt know what he was doing.

valves have a distinct rattle. trans progressively harder to shift. crankshaft definitely knockin, maybe alota slack in the rist pin. my little girl was outside when i was checkin it out and she asked me where that noise was comin from, i told her the scooter was making that noise.
to which she replied... daddy, how did the woodpeckers get inside the 4 wheeler? i laughed. but really she hit the nail on the head.
its knockin like a woodpecker busy as crap.

hey redracer, thanks 4 reply. see you live in denver, thats neat...... few years back I did a couple of jobs in ft.collins. stayed bout a year. could see horsetooth resivoir from my living room window. peudre river valley.
We 'd get a lil time off and ease down the road towards denver. Always end up at the OASIS somehow. imagine that. lol anyways- small world
