growling noise when braking

I have a 2003 rincon and my friend has a 2005. Both make a kind of growling noise when going slow downhill with the rear brake being used. It does not do it with only using the front brake. Any ideas, or do they all do it? It sounds like it is in the rear end or transfer case.

Thanks for the help. That would be a good idea, but I don't have a video recorder. Since mine is new to me but only has 80 hrs on it, and my friend's does it too, I thought it was not good, but normal. It only does it going slow and on a steep hill, so when it it is safe to do, I will only use the front brakes also.---Jack
