Hello all I came across this site and I am ready to be a part of this new family! I just got my first quad I can call my own (tired of riding other people stuff lol) I bought an 01 TRX400ex with a loud a#@ exhaust believe its a supertrapp??.

Have a couple questions
1) Tail light is out not sure if the 01 had a brake light on it but I do know the tailight is not working when the bike is on or the brake is applied.
2) Nerf Bars rattle when I hit high gear (the guy I purchased it from said it needs a bolt in the middle where they connect to the chassis) not sure what that means
3) Some rust spots on the frame how do I get rid of it and keep it from becoming an issue

Welcome to the forums. The '01 don't have a brake light. The taillight should only work when the headlights are on. If it doesn't, then check the bulb to see if it's blown.

As for the rusted spots, just sand them, primer, and paint them.

The bolt that's missing from the nerf bars probably goes where the nerf bars meet in the front at the front of the motor. It may even go through the front motor mount, I'm not sure about the 400EX.

The front of the nurf bars conect to the front of your frame look where all the bolts are and check them

What kind are they.
I have a few freinds that have had ratt;ing trouble with AC nerfs and they drill a hole through them my the peg and put a bolt through them.

?? what grade sand paper? Ive been looking on the net and people have recommended sanding and paint like rustoleum and coating the frame with wd40 is this a good route?

just some 250 grit will work..seeing how it's under the frame..you won't be looking at it all the time..as far as the wd-40..don't use it..it will wash off...just sand it..spray some primer on it..then some high gloss paint to match the rest of the bike..oh..and welcome to the forums !

welcome to the forum as far as the rust you might need to get self etching primer or use limeaway but makesure you clean it with a wet cloth and dry it real well before you paint. gives it a better adhesion to the metal
