Hello to all. I bought a non running rincon. Took motor apart and replaced rings, timing chain, guide, tensionor, oil pump chain and orings. Also misc other orings and of course the head gasket and other major gaskets for the top end. It runs great! I have no shifting in auto mode. I'm thinking its because the speedo is not working. I get no code for the speed sensors though. Actually I'm getting no codes at all. I unplugged the TPS sensor and it gave me the code for that so I'm thinking the diagnostics are functioning. Anyhow just trying to see if anyone here has had similar issues. I like running it in manual though. I just like to have everything working. Next I am replacing the front wheel bearings and a cv boot on the left rear. Front brakes need work too. Have any of you guys tried the disc conversion kit sold on here? Guess I'm rambling now? Let the games begin!!

Welcome to the forums. I don't have a Rincon, but there's a few guys on here that do, so maybe they will be able to help. If you don't have a repair manual for your Rincon, you can download one from this site.

I'm not sure, but I think that might be normal for the Rincon. I've heard a lot of people talk about their lack of engine braking or being geared too high for descending steep hills. Some of these other guys on here that own a Rincon should be able to tell you.
Yeah I have an 03 Rincon as well and engine brake kinda sucks. I have an 88 forutraxx 300 and was used to the engine brake when I back it out of my truck but when I back my Rincon out it was very unexpected for it to not have any engine braking. Kinda scary sometimes if you're not expecting it. If you're downshifting it will slow you down a bit though, but reverse engine brake there is none. I have not tried it with the engine idle set high though. I've read for the new 680 fuel injected 2006 and up Rincons they have improved on it and many other minor things from the previous model. Other than that its an amazing 4wheeler.
As for your no shifting in auto mode, with no tire speed sensor reading then your transmission doesn't no when to shift and it should jusdt go into default mode which I think is 2nd gear. A service manual is extremely helpful so I definetly recommend to either buy one or download it. Hope you find what you're looking for.

Yea thats what I'm thinking. The only puzzling thing is that there is no failure code. Not that the system is foolproof or anything. Sometimes you just don't get a code when there is a fault. I do have a manual. Went through initialize proceedure cause it was sitting for 2 years with no power. That did'nt help. I'm gonna check out wiring for flaws and corrosion next. Got the new front wheel bearings and seals on the way. I will update the post later if I find anything. Please keep the thoughts and Ideas coming.
