Well it isnt mine, but my dads, I helped him pick it out, he didnt wanna go Yamaha or any other brand but wanted a Honda. Its a brand new leftover 2018 Pioneer 1000-5 Deluxe.

We got the Hard top installed and windsheild with Wipers.

First impressions good lord the 6 speed is clunky and takes some getting used to. I think it just needs to be broken in maybe? Power is nice and the paddle shifters are neat.

The maintenance on this thing, why do they still use cartridges uggg, give us a damn spin on filter already.

We trailed it home in a snow storm, it was terrible drive back, total of 8 hours of driving....... when it should have been under 4 if the roads were decent lol.

Anywho heres some pictures!

Picture of it on the trailer in the storm

Notice the Grizzly in the background ;P

Overall he loves it! Big upgrade from the POS articcat Prowler. Time will tell on the longevity of this beast!

Nice looking machine. Honda has sure bet the farm with their DCT's. Having ridden all of the variations of automatics they've used, I wish they would just worked all the bugs and reliability concerns out of the hydrostatic hondamatics and kept that as their automatic off road offering across the board. The DCT is my least favorite of all of them and is the reason I made the jump over to Yamaha in 2012. A massaged over hydrostatic hondamatic with power steering and IRS would have had me buying a new Honda then (automatic and EPS are a must for me).

nice looking SXS

congrats to your dad on getting it

and I am, sure you'
ll get seat time in too LOL
keep us posted on how it is after some miles add up, if things smooth out or not?
have to ask, did your dad look at all at the new sport model sxs? or did he want a 4 seater more than a 2??
as they look like they would be a pretty sporty fun machine over the pioneer model

Nice looking machine. Knowing Honda I’d have thought longevity would be up to usual expectations, time will tell I guess. Looking forward to reviews when you get some hours in the seat :)

He looked at Polaris and Honda...no other brands ugggggg, He wanted the 5 seater for the grand kids. I switched it to "Sport mode" and that seems to help, shifts right before redline so you know its coming lol.

Wife's DCT shifts better with synthetic oil in it, and the 17-up Rubicons had a different shift map programmed into the ECU to give them smoother shifts because so many people complained about them. Really surprised they wouldn't have done the same with their flagship SxS.
