Good day with the 40ES

Spent some time this afternoon helping my son pull some trees and large bushes from his yard, very overgrown. Made the 98 Foreman 450ES grunt on a few of the larger logs as the trees and bushes are all entangled together. The best news is for the first time I found out my fan does function as it spent some time idling and then pulling without being shut down. Very happy to know the fan comes on when the oil heats up..another thing I got fixed with help from this forum. Yeah team...

Have you considered a 'manual override' on the fan? Can be handy at times. Turn it on before the oil gets hot enough to trigger the automatic switch.
If the automatic switch is faulty, you wouldn't know it until your oil is so hot it has the consistency of gasoline.
Just an idea . . .
Both my '99 450's have the manual override.
Where do you have the toggle located? There isn't much room up where the brakes, shift assembly, throttle sit. It wouldn't be hard to do just asking for a handy spot for the switch....
Waterproof toggle switch . . . easy to see/access, can be wired through the ignition or 'hot' off the battery, an indicator light could be used if you're wired 'hot' and worried about leaving it on by mistake.
Just my opinion only . . . the factory should have done this.
Never had that small panel off, is there anything under there? Only a couple wires anyhow so shouldn't be an issue.
