Hello from NWNJ. Just picked up a new to us 2000 TRX90 for my 11 year old son. Looking forward to learning more about this neat little machine. Changed the oil right away. It was very dark. Took several pulls to start. Which I thought was odd for a Honda. My other sons xr 100 starts first kick every time. Pulled the spark plug, dark and fouled. Cleaned it up. Shot of starter fluid. Started second pull. Let my son ride it for 10 minutes. It did not idle well. Played with the idle/air screws. Idle is now set a little high but won't shut off when at a stand still. Now cold starts are one pull. Sure carb needs cleaning. That can wait for Sunday morning.

Welcome to the forums. Just asking, you did use oil for a wet clutch application? I would give the air filter a cleaning as well. Also, you might try tossing in some SeaFoam or similar and see if it clears up by the weekend, because I'm sure the little guy is going to run it and just as well put something in there to clean the entire system....
