Hey guys I?m wondering what?s the best way to remove the gasket material from engine I?m having some trouble with that

a sharp razor blade, and being very..VERY careful not to nick the cases anywhere the gasket sits. or..with a bench grinder that has a wire wheel on it ?, use it to knock the old gasket off. that's how I do it.

Scotch brite pad works really well. Hit it with alittle oven cleaner first and it will come off even easier. Thats always been my method.

I've had to use the Permatex gasket remover and a razor blade. Sometimes it is the most tedious and time consuming part of a rebuild.

I use a razor then some permatex gasket remover or if the whole thing is apart and easy to clean I’ll use a die grinder with a scotch brite pad or something, nothing too aggressive, the dust gets everywhere though so you want to be able to clean it up after.

Permatex Gasket Remover ..... great for removing powdercoating also.
