When putting a 450R carburetor on my Honda 400EX I do not like the way the gas tank does not clear the carburetor. I would think somebody would make an aftermarket tank or intake to accommodate for this. I do not really want to remold my tank but I do not like the way that it is hitting either. What have others done or ideas? Thank you!

The 04-05 450 carb is a direct fit. Usually. . . the only thong you need to do is warm the boots so that they'll stretch over the carb

^^I agree. When i did this mod years ago it was a direct fit(engine side). The gas tank had about 1/8 inch of room up off the carb. Something isnt right there. Im wondering if maybe it isnt pushed all the way into the boot at the bottom and its causing it to sit at a leaning forward angle maybe? I remember heating the boot and still being forced to push the quad up against the wall because with the thing in gear i was dragging the rear tires i was pushing so hard. It eventually made a loud pop and then after that it was stretched and would come off and on alot easier. The airbox side does require some modification to fit over that end of the carb though for sure. My .02
