Hello. My first post. I have 2004 trx350 which replaced the s wingarm bearings on. I have gap on the right side between frame and Swingarm. Is my frame bent and can I pull closer with a cargo strap or something? It's about 1/4 inch.

The pre-load of the swing arm bearing is pretty much nothing , it is like 48 inch pounds ( or what ever the spec is ) , anything more than that is too much , don't try to pull it in , like Retro is saying maybe you installed the bearing and race backwards

Its apart. The right bolt is a few thou thicker than the left bolt. The left bolt fits the bearings inner hole perfectly. The right bolt is tapered marginally and does not fit all thé way. This of course pushes the swingarm left when tighting bolts. I figure to take the right bolt down to the left bolt dimensions on the part that goes into the bearing. All bearings and races at correctly seated.

Are they aftermarket bearings? That could explain the problem... Or do you have a rusty pivot bolt? Both pivots should measure the same pin diameter, the bolt with the locknut belongs on the right side. I've never seen OEM bearings that did not fit the pivot bolts.

put that pivot bolt that won't go into the bearing into a vise and start with a file and chamfer the end , then use some emery paper that comes in a roll and buff the shaft that goes into the bearing , might be a little mushroomed on the end

Both, rust and aftermarket bearing but the bolt is a few thou thicker than the right bolt. Looking back on it, it was stuck on the original bearing and had to use a puller. Last owner was a 16 year old who claimed he changed all bearings himself. He also didn't use seals or grease on bearing either. I suspect heat expansion in the bolt. This rebuild has been a process of "discovery".

hardest part is getting the inner bearing races out of the swing arm, other than this ?, its pretty easy in my book..lol. dont worry about the large lock nut on right side, all you need to remove is the 17mm allen bolt from there. I find it easier to remove the inner bearing races by drilling a hole through the drive shaft side swing arm bearing. just run a 1/2 drill bit into the inside of the drive shaft opening, where you can run a steel rod all the way through, and hammer the inner bearing race out from inside, this is pretty easy.

You right about the inner race Shade , if it were left in there , that will make it have a big gap , maybe the previous owner done that and now the frame is sprung from riding it like that , never know -------also there are two possible type of bearings that would go into the swing arm , depending on where the bearing was bought from , a tapered bearing or a roller bearing , both would leave a race in the bore , I slice the race with a torch and they fall out in two pieces
