Welcome to the forum. Probably the easiest and cheapest thing would be to go up one tooth on your front sprocket, you'll gain top speed but loose a little power out the hole.

A K&N or other high flow filter may help, ditch the air box lid, too. You can definitely tell the difference, but it won't put you out front of a 400ex. Are you running a complete exhaust or just a slip on? If its just a slip on get a head and mid pipe for it. Also, get a cam. You'll notice a huge difference.

you can go up one in the front and have your chain eat through your casing or you can go to a 36 in the rear and have your chain tight as a banjo string because the adjuster cannot give enoguh slack
Get a new chain!!!

You can add links to the chain with a couple master links and make the chain long enough.

Well you could always change your gearing up a little and put a good intake and filter on it that wont put you ahead of a 400 but its cheap and will give you more bang for your buck than a full exhaust system
