Got a used 2002 Foreman Rubicon, 5600 miles. I drove it tonight when we got home and after parking it in the garage I noticed a continuous noise coming from the fuel tank. After further observation I realized the fuel tank was crackling and/or bubbling possibly coming from the inside bottom the garage/house of the gas tank. What is the cause? Excessive heat? Last thing I need is a fire in the garage/house after putting it to work. Thanks!

are you sure it's not the top of the engine you hear..and not the gas tank ?..if it is your tank..open the gas cap..listen for air escape from the tank..if so..it's not venting like it should.

Would the top of engine make those sounds from hot oil? It is weird, does your machine do this? I want to get an idea of what may be going on before taking it back for inspection.

If the fuel is actually bubbling in the tank, it's probably bubbling under pressure. Make sure your gas cap is venting, like Shadetree suggested. If the vent is stopped up, it will do that.

mine don't do that..but..yes..you can hear that noise if oil or gas is getting down on your hot engine. but..then again..a hot engine will make that sound as it's cooling down...may not hurt to inspect your bike..make sure your not getting any oil or gas draining down on your hot engine..and always turn your gas off after you ride..this way..if your float decides to not work right..you won't get back on it the next day..with no gas in your tank..it would all be in your air box and the lower engine !!..which means..you would have to drain and flush your lower engine to get the gas out...you may wanna take a peak and listen to see if your noise is also your heat sheild from your ex not making the noise ??..lol.
