Front Wheel alignment
Hi All,
When sitting on the seat of a 2009 TRX500FM should the front Tyres / wheels be straight in line with the rear or should they toe in or out??
A pretty basic question from me as a new owner of the TRX500 as I do not recall the TRx 350 I sold last week having a toe out with the front wheels/tyres.
But this afternoon I was giving the bike a clean and noticed the wheels seem to toe out a fair bit.

A lot of 4x4 toe out, when power is applied theoretically it goes to neutral when all the play is taken out. Some 4x4 run neutral toe in. In all honesty the best way is to set it to factory then adjust little by little until steering feels best with no tyre scrubbing.
I set my 300 fourtrax to 30mm toe out plus a full turn (each side) as I find it gives me a better turning circle, I do only use mine at off-road parks though.
Riding slippy side slopes will ultimately give you the best setting, the better it holds means there's less scrubbing on the tyres. It's quite an important thing to get right in trials.

I have always Toed in my Honda 300s & Brute Force. Not by much, but until I could see the tires "just" tip in, and then test ride to make sure the steering was straight..

Ahhh Sweet! I've never actually checked the manual, just went with what I knew worked!
Mac, Wheeler, have you tried neutral or a bit of toe out, just to see if there's any difference? You may get a bit more turn in, or you may not, it's a suck it and see job. Honda spec it for various reasons, one being safety, they don't want idjuts killing themselves on one of their machines.
I always line my front tires with my back tires, sooo..call this neutral if ya want ?, but it works for me just fine.

I've never tried anything other than toe in..
Give it a try Wheeler, I found that there's a lot less pull on the bars when at full lock, tends to hold itself there a little better.
Depends I suppose what you use your ATV for, mine is purely off-road parks, no trails or long rides. Don't think I'd be happy having it hold a lock if I was doing any distance, would be a recipe for disaster lol
