I purchased a big red 3 wheeler last year for ice fishing. I put chains on the rear tires but nothing on the front tire. I could hardly steer on any slippery surface. What can I do to improve the steering on ice and snow? I have looked for a chain but am afraid it will rip up the rubber shock boots. Thanks in advance!

You mean like small sheet metal type screws? Would I just make sure they are shorter than the lug thickness (so they dont go inside the tire) and screw them in from the outside with the screw head making contact with the ground? I'm a newbie at this kinda stuff so I'm sorry if this is elementary stuff. Thanks again!

Exactly, you don't want them to go into the tire, just the lug from the outside of the tire.

Yup, use to have a 200x did that, worked great, just dont crank on it too much, they will wear down.

No worries there. i dont use it for recreational driving......just for utility......namely pulling my ice fishing equipment. Any particular style screw head recommended for this sort of hing?

Drill some small screws into the lugs on the front tire... Like ice studs
thats a REALLY GREAT IDEA RED !!.. i never thought of that..thanks for the info. always wondered about chains and such on atv tires..but this sounds like a very cheap and simple job..sheet metal screws that have the octagon head would grip pretty good..i wouldn't recomend driving them on hard pavement..but for snow and ice..they should work great...thanks for the tip !
