Looks the same to me.

One way to check is go to rockmountainatv and click on Chat Now. The good thing about the chat now is that you are chatting with someone there at the company. I love this feature of their website. They offer a Fit Guarantee or you return it free. So, they can tell you for sure if it will fit.

wont fit. it will only fit if both are 4wd. you can swap 2wd to 2wd, but not 4wd to 2wd.

I recommend disc brake conversions by either SuperAtv or Highlighter!

Okay Shadetree, how do you know it is a 4wd brake system? Please enlighten me.
welllllllllll..going by your first post at the top ^^^..you said trx300fw to a trx300, this tells me one is 4wd, other is 2wd, soooo..unless you forgot to tell us the whole model numbers on both atvs ?, i'm going by what you posted ^^^ :). if both are trx300fw's ?, then yes..it swap over, if only one is a 2wd ?, then no..it wont...you really want to question my knowledge on this ?..lol.

if these parts came off a trx300fw ?..they wont bolt up because of the backing plate. iffffffffffffff..you still have the oem backing plates from a trx300 ( which is a 2wd by the way ), you can just swap over all the brake parts from the trx300fw brake parts to your trx300 backing plate. what honda did was change the center hole, and I believe the bolt holes to mount the backing plate to the knuckles on a 2wd trx300. in case you do not know , how I know the difference between these two models ?. a trx300 is 2wd, reason: when they are a trx300 4wd ?, they will be a trx300fw !. notice the FW on the end of the model ?, that FW stands for FW=FOUR WHEEL DRIVE :). if there is not the letters at the end of the 300 ?..then it will be called a 2wd= two wheel drive. when you see the letters FW after the numbers on an atv ?..such as FW ?..this is always four wheel drive. fw= 4 wheel drive, fm=four wheel drive, manual shift, tm=two wheel drive, manual shift. te=two wheel drive electric shift. fe=four wheel drive, electric shift. fa=four wheel drive, automatic.

Thank-you so very much for the lesson. I had NO idea that the letters described the quads.
I don't know what mine looks like since I haven't taken the time to remove the wheel and drum. I also haven't taken the carb out of the Chem dip yet. Working daylight to dark 6 days a week, still trying to clean up and repair after Hurricane Michael.

In the "ATV Parts for sale" these are listed and it looks to me that everything is there to just use on mine. Is the backing plate what the wheel cylinder attaches to? And what is the knuckle? OH GURU OF ALL THINGS QUAD, LOL.

the wheel cylinders should bolt right onto the backing plate. the knuckle is where you wheel attaches to when the wheel hub is attached to either the knuckle stud ( 2wd ) or front cv joint drive axle ( 4wd ). :). 1 and 2, 2wd knuckle --- > https://www.partzilla.com/catalog/honda/atv/1991/trx300-an-fourtrax-300/front-arm . 17 and 18 4wd knuckle --- > https://www.partzilla.com/catalog/honda/atv/1991/trx300fw-a-fourtrax-4x4/front-arm . see the difference ?. this is for a 1991 2wd trx300, and a 1991 trx300fw to show you what I meant :).

88-92 2wd use the same backing plate ---the reason I asked is I have 300s 2wd with disc conversion , but they are all 2nd and 3rd gen 2wd 93 up , never tried a 1st gen as the bolt pattern for the backing plate is much smaller than 2nd gen 2wd , It can be done , I just never did it ---- SuperATV discontinued the Rancher disc kit but I seen some Rancher 2wd disc kits a while back by an after market company on e-bay

fish, his issue is, he's trying to put 4wd front brakes ( backing plate ) on a 2wd machine. its not about 2wd from year to year on a 2wd, its about trying to put 4wd front brake parts on a 2wd front brake atv, and it wont work, least not from what I know of ??. if he just uses the 2wd backing plate, if its still on there ?, then all he has to do is swap over all the brake parts from the 4wd front brake backing plate into the 2wd front brake backing plate, call it a day.

Yep , I get what he wants , brakes , just giving him something else to think of , but when I think about it , if he is looking to do a swop like that , then he is mostly looking for the cheapest way to pull it off = an anchor and a rope
