I have a 99 Honda 300 that starts and idles fine, but when its put in gear it doesn't go anywhere. I acts like it wants to get going, but it doesn't. I talked to several people and some say its the clutches and other say it may be the differential. I don't know, any help would be appreciated.

does it make any grinding or clunking noises ???.if so..then your rear differental needs to be fixed. if not..then you can try adjusting your clutch free play..see if that helps..if that dont work..then your clutch needs new clutch disk..or your centrifugal clutch needs new arms in it...one more thing to check..the one-way bearing thats on your centrifugal clutch..check it..see it it will lock one way..and free spin the other ???..if it free spins both ways..then your one-way bearing for it is gone.

Welcome to the forums. You can also loosen one of the clamps on the rubber boot that covers the u-joint and pull the rubber boot back and see if the driveshaft is turning when in gear. If it doesn't turn, then you know it's in the clutch or something. If it turns, the problem is in the rear diff. Don't get your finger caught in there, use a screwdriver or stick to hold the rubber boot back while you look.
