Hey guys, I’m trying to do a build with my 300 fourtrax and want to make my own 6 inch lift! I need too know how to make my own extended arched a arms for the front and how to modify the drive shaft for that?
If you have no idea already on how to make them I would advise you to not attempt to do it.
You need a welder, tube bender, bench drill and knowledge in fab work.
You don't modify the front shaft/s, you replace with new, Cobra I believe are a good brand.
As for the rear end, youl need a swing arm stretch and a shaft stretch. To extend the shaft you simply cut it in half and bore a piece of solid to the shaft diameter and press together to the desired length.
So, for the rear, you need a Lathe and a shop press.
Knowledge in geometry ----- then trail and error ---- a lot of people's first lift builds were failures , after a few tries to get a model and height right , they build off templets and duplicating ----so builders are not going to be too sharing , about giving info that they learned and are making money with
I paid a well known 300 lift builder to build me a kit for the front of my 450 , it was built pretty and I had to take it off and send it back to him for credit , as the geometry was off just a little and there were numerous problems , and I spent hours trying to make it work
A lathe and a press to build a swing arm extension ?
A lathe to extend the shaft fish... Bore a piece of solid bar to the diameter of the shaft and then press the ends of the shafts into the new sleeve. A tight fit eliminates any distortion when welding and also reduces chances of it being misaligned
Could bodge it with a close fitting piece of tube I guess but I certainly wouldn't lol
Was just running great yesterday been working on is all night and day tightened valves to .006 made sure the timing chain was on dead center put new oil and still same noise with no start if you can help me in any way let me know thanks.
Thot to start a build thread–got this 1986 A model for a fair deal out of an estate auction. My wifey bought it for me!! It had two heavy steel homebuilt carriers loaded onto it and was rolled. My objective is to restore it to the base model configuration–no options on it. Condition assessment...
I have a 2002 trx350 4trax, the front right wheel ( if you're sitting on it) keeps toeing out, i have adjusted the tie rod and realigned the tire, but after one ride it has toed out again and pulls severely to the right. What could be wrong with it?
