Have a new to me 2012 Rubicon. Runs great but has a very distinctive squeak or squeel from the Exhaust. This noise goes away when the Spark Arrestor is removed. I can purchased a new spark arrestor for about 50$. Is the arrestor typically the culprit with this noise? Or is it something internal to the muffler that only makes the noise with the added back pressure of the arrestor when its installed? i can buy a full muffler with arrestor for about 225$

Thanks.

have ya tried rapping on the muffler when its cold, and listen for any rattle ?, if it does ?, then your problem is deeper inside the muffler. awhile back, honda had some defective mufflers on some atv models, but I don't recall which models it was ?.

Yes, i did try that and do not hear any noticeable loose parts. I also read a post indicating there was an updated muffler that resolved some of these problems. Mine being a 2012 seems like it would already have it?

wish I could answer you on that, but I have no clue. all I know is, honda had some defective mufflers on some models, and they recalled them to fix them, thats all I know.

you can call honda, or a dealership, and ask them how can you find out if your model was fixed ?.

My 450 foreman exhaust has a squeak too, nothing appears to be loose or rotten, I’m just living with it.
