2007 Foreman 4x4 ES. Goes up through all gears normal. Shifts down normal through 2nd. Won’t shift from 2nd to 1st without rocking back and forth while pressing the shift button repeatedly. Will change through all gears up and down with manual shift tool. Already replaced th shift angle sensor and adjusted the clutch. What should I do next?

I checked the battery and it was good. I took the shift motor off and cleaned and greased it. I screwed up taking this off and took off just the motor at first. How in the works do I get the motor back through the casing with those spring brushes??

You'll need to take the reduction gears housing off to reassemble the shift motor, so do that first. Then use two small alligator clips to hold the brushes back in their holders, then put the armature shaft in. Remove alligator clips then hold on tight to the armature shaft end that will be sticking out on the opposite side of the housing. Get a good grip on that shaft then put the outer motor shell down over the armature until the rear bearing lines up and the shell goes together. Now you can release your death-grip on the shaft and put the screws back in the motor. The service manual will help you assemble the reduction gears and housing. Don't overtighten any of those bolts...

does it matter what kind of grease is used on 2007 shift motor?
being barefoot, i caught my right 2nd toe on the chair leg, and broke the toe knuckle, that is just under the toenail. i had shifting problems, also. dont matter if its dark, just a bad habit...

Well guys after 1 day of normal shifting its back to sticking in 2nd while down shifting. This time it even took about 10 shifts with the manual lever to go into first. I’m think a shift fork now. What’s y’all thoughts?

my first thought is pull the front cover, have a look at the shifting drum and bolt, and parts right there. bottom right side, as your facing the front of the motor.

Bummer ! What about doing a mod to make it a foot shift ! I think it is possible on your model , Jeep knows a lot about the mod and the info is in one of his threads , and I think from reading it is not too hard or expensive to pull off , just a thought for the pot !
