I'm New member of the forum so bear with me. My dad owns a 2004 foreman 450 es and last year in the summer I had to ride it home for him and once I got to it I started it and tried shifting into first it wouldn't shift so I tried reverse and it shifted so I tried shifting up again it didn't work so I had to manually shift the atv up and now the ES hasn't worked since it doesn't even try to do anything no electric motor no nothing just wondering what could the problem be and if it would be real pricey to fix if it's price is there a way to just make it a normal maual shift foreman it doesn't have to be fancy it's just and old farm bike but it's annoying to ride the way it is

Maybe the shift switches are dirty or gone bad? You can check those with a multimeter. Unplug each of the wiring harness connectors and look for dirty/corroded plugs too. You can find a copy of the service manual HERE to use for reference... let us know how it goes if you can.
