Anyone notice the upswing in interest in these old workhorses ? Whether yours is the ketchup, relish, or the much sought after mustard color :grin They all have a good following here.
Easy to work on, not overly large, well engineered, and parts aren't too outrageous yet. Plus, if you're one of the elite 'mustard' riders .... well, you can just imagine the adoration heaped on you from the ketchup and relish crowd ..... :wink
These are good machines . . . folks still like them, and they don't last long when for sale.
Thoughts . . . ?

welp..I deff favor them !. love my '03 trx450fm...EVEN IF IT IS KETCHUP !..LMFAOOOO. solid machines, work horses for sure, easy to rebuild/work on. only thing that bothers me about them ?, is the electronic switch out for the front differential !. if that last years down the road ?, well...I got my money's worth out of her !.

If that front diff engagement plays up it’s only an electromagnetic system as far as I’m aware, pretty basic system really so easy enough to fix or mod if parts become obsolete in the future. Where there’s a will there’s a way :)

I love my 450 but will also miss the 300. Both great bikes but the 450 suits my larger frame better. I thought I fancied a 420 rancher at one point but I’m quite content with the 450 and no longer have the interest in a rancher, the 450 is a keeper for sure.

I love my 400 and mine is all black??, left the little kids spray paint it LOL
so I have no envoy of any color
and I have said this countless times, if Honda remade these old things again, they would sell like hot cakes, there simple WAY smaller, lower center of gravity than the new atv's, and LAST and LAST and LAST with basic care
however there work tools, ride hard, go slow and don't have any fancy crap so many seem to NEED these days
I regret selling my back up one I had new when I bought the one I still have

I got ketchup that is ready to go and when I use the ketchup it taste good , stewing up some relish and it is almost ready , the relish is going to be more spicy because of the ingredients used during the cooking . At first I was complaining about ketchup , the bottle kept tilting over on it's side , but learned to live with it , now the relish container is even taller and might fall on it's side even easier than ketchup

I like the 450 , I am having a good time cooking " Relish " and can't wait to " eat it up "

Maybe Mac'Man could be "Mr.Mustard" or "MustardMan" , it's all MMMM's

well lucky you, I wish I was heading out for a elk hunt
but elk are an almost impossible draw here in PA, and honestly I don;t even put in anymore, as well, PA isn;t what I call elk country, if I go after an elk I also want the scenery most live in as its NOT all about the kill to me any more!

so best of luck to you and for sure post some pic's if you can, some of us will appreciate them more than you might think, living so far from the great places they roam

I sort of think this way too, if they made them to last like they did, be hard to make repeat sales
but then again with the modern mind set so many have today, and about not seeming to care about having payments forever, I still think a lot of folks would still buy new one's LONG before they wore out an atv like these
people just waste money in there throw away mind set so many have, keep making payments to have more and more NEW junk to say they have

and now you know why honda stoped making the trx300's ?, BECAUSE THEY NEVER BROKE DOWN !..LOL. they did not get the nic name '' bullet proof '' for the heck of it !...lol.

they don't want things to last now days , make them more complicated to work on in the name of environmental quality , so you need their service dept , which means more money in service and parts then sales

I started a war yesterday , I went to check a leak on a 2015 JD624K loader , the leak was a coolant leak at the DEF header pump , from what I have gathered the purpose of the coolant hoses to the pump is to prevent freezing the DEF during cold weather , the plastic housing where the fitting attaches broke , so a need pump assembly called a header is needed , $1,000 and the kicker is there is not one to be had at the moment , I cut myself out of some work if the part ever does comes in , but I told the owner that from what I know JD is required by law to warranty the DEF system for 5 years , he called them and now they are in debate of what is going to happen -------- personally I wouldn't buy a new piece of machinery or a new atv for that matter

I hear you on all the unneeded crap on things to day to meet what ever CLAIMED law is on the books even if there is no logic to them

but I hate to say it, I think MOST folks these days BUY new as they have NO clue on how to fix anything and anything used or older scares more and more people today more than ever, do to so few having any tool turning skills, as all there life most kids these days never FIX anything, there just given new things, when ever something breaks and far too many parents are guilty of this and spoiling kids and teaching them to just keep buying JUNK that fails and finance away there lives to have it NOW, not many save up to buy anything outright anymore, due to they all NEED IT NOW< and don't care how long it lasts or how much interest they will pay on it!
the folks making crap today are in a unreal amount of cash flow due to this mind set

I don't know what the videos are sayin', but I know this: 450s produce the pullin'-est 1st gear torque of all of the old Hondas that I've ever worked with in the hardwoods! There was no such thing as being so severely overloaded with game and gear that it might not be able to climb back out of the river bottom walking over logs and stumps on up that steep, now deeply rutted highbank! It didn't ever matter what was loaded on it, what was chained up to it, or what was in its path, it kept grinding away until all of the work was done. And never a pause for breakdown. I 'll never forget that bike. It was a bit top heavy even fully unloaded though. And they won't roll back on all fours until ya poke a busted tree under 'em and pry with all ya got. -:)
