Does anyone know where to get cheaper priced parts such as a cooling fan for my 95 Foreman 400? I have pulled the fan off and hooked it up to the battery and it will not spin. I am currently rebuilding the motor and would like to save a buck or two.

Yeah, but all they have are used ones at 60 -100 dollars and I checked on Cheap atv parts online and their price is 214 just for the motor. I guess I just need to spend the extra money and get a new motor.

does the motor on your fan have brushes ?..if so..try replacing them..if not..try cleaning the armature alittle..may want to grease the bearing in it..if it has one ?..if it's just a brush issue..then i would replace the brushes..surely that doesn't cost alot.

I doubt if you can buy the parts or brushes to fix the fan motor.

Be sure the motor is water proof, because the heater motors are likely meant to be inside away from the weather. I think that's part of the expense of the ATV motors....the other part is probably due to a small market.

Thanks for all the responses, I found a cheaper fan at a salvage yard and bought it. While I was there I asked the guy if they had the head light that mounts to the handle bars as well. He said yes and it comes with a speedometer, little did I know that they did not start placing them on Foremans till 97. The speedometer I bought is a not digital is as the roll over numbers for the hrs and miles and dial type speedo. Is there any way to make the speedometer work?

i've only seen speedo's hooked up to mid '90's trx300's...they had them tied into the transfer case...i have not seen any ones other than this.

I doubt the '95 has the speed sensor that you would need to hook the speedometer/odometer up to, since it didn't come from the factory with a speedometer. There wouldn't have been any need for one.

Is there any way to check the oil temp sensor? I was out riding this last week end and the fan did not come on I pulled the wire off the sensor and and did a resistance test, the hotter the motor gets the lower the number on my meter gets. The oil temp light will come on every once and awhile when you first start it. Is there any way to check the control box? Or does the engine just have to get really hot for the fan to come on?

With the key on, pull the wire off the oil temp sensor and ground it to the engine. The fan should come on and run, regardless of the temp. Also, the oil temp light will come on. If the fan doesn't run, you have a bad fan or control unit or the fuse for the fan is blown.

Well I ran the four wheeler and did what you said (Helmut) and nothing, but while I was running it with the wire disconnected and not grounded the Oil Temp light came on for a few seconds then back off. It sounds like the Fan Control box is bad.

i would replace the oil temp sensor before you replace the fan control unit, they are cheaper..lol..and even if your oil temp sensor is good..at least you got a back up sensor.

When you ground that wire, that bypasses the oil temp sensor, so that means the problem is either the fan or the control unit and since the temp light don't light up when the wire is grounded, the control unit is likely the problem.
