Hi everyone, first time poster
I just picked up a 2008 Honda Rancher 4x4 (trx420fe8)
Second day I started having shifting problems. When I first start it up, and idling it shifts fine both up and down, through all the gears, but after riding for like 2 minutes it will not downshift at all until I let it cool down. Also, when riding and up-shifting, it shifts extremely hard. The gear indicator blinks continuously ( -- ).
I replaced the angle sensor and that didn’t help. Any suggestions?

try replacing the grease in the ele shift transfer area, and make sure your battery is fully charged, and is charging ?. ele models require a good battery to operate correctly.

Make sure you have the right amount of oil & anti freeze, though 2 min's isnt long to get hot :O . Almost sounds like a shift fork issue.
