First Post Questions on 1998 300FW

This is my first post but I've been watching for a while.

I just purchased a 1998 300FW and have a few questions:

1. Is the clutch a wet or dry clutch? Bottom line is do I need to use an engine oil designed for wet clutches?

2. The Owners manual said to use 10w40 oil in the front differental. A local shop uses 80-90 oil in the front, middle, and rear. Is there a problem with this?

3. What are some areas I need to take a look at on this atv? I cranks and runs fine.

Thanks

According to my repair manual, the front and rear differential uses hypoid gear oil, SAE 80W. This is from a 1995-2000 Honda Fourtrax 300 4X4 repair manual. It is the Honda brand manual. It says to use Honda GN4 motor oil (10W-40) in the front gear case(transfer case), but I think a lot of people use the 80W gear oil in it and it seems work fine. Welcome to the forums.
