Hey all...I'm doing my first oil change tomorrow, but I don't have my owners manual with me. I'm at my in-laws and can't drive the hour back home to get the book...can anyone tell me where to find the oil filter? I haven't looked for it yet, and I'm sure I can find it, but I'm hoping someone can save me the time. It is not a spin-on type filter...it is a cartridge type, so it's not as obvious as you might think. Thanks in advance.

On mine, the filter is on the right crank case cover under a round plate. But, my engine is turned 90 degrees from yours. You should still be able to find it under a side plate, very likely.

This is the front crank cover from an 09 rancher, and the filter looks like it's right-front.

That's it. I figured it was the plate held in by three screws just below the filler cap on the right side...I was right.:D:icon_ rocker:

That's not it...thanks for looking it up though. My filter is round...like a spin-on, but without the outer shell.

It turned out that I couldn't change it this weekend...not enough miles/hours. Good thing I looked at the manual instead of just listening to the dealer...they were waaaaay off.:icon_cussing:
