I bought a (single owner) 2004 350 Rancher last year and have put a couple hundred miles on it myself. It has a total of less than 1000 non-abused miles, always garaged. It has gotten to the point that the down shift button doesn't work very well. (I had to use the special shift tool the last time I had it out.) Up shift is fine 100%. The Honda dealer has a backlog of service work, so I'm going to try to fix it myself...summer’s too short here to wait two weeks to get it into the shop! I've got reasonable mechanical aptitude and a fair amount of "shade tree" experience on vehicles. This is the first/only ATV I've ever wrenched on. I'm hoping I can get some help here figuring this thing out.

Welcome to the forums. First, try adjusting the clutch free play and see if that helps any.
