Snorkeling my 06 (calm down shadetree, I'm not going to be running it underwater!)

Front fender is off of a beater bike and already had the hole cut with a joint and rubber connector coming off of it.

The top of the joint coming out of the front fender takes 1.5" PVC. I put a 1.5 elbow in the airbox, going to a coupler that goes to 2" and have 2" spa hose run to and connected to the bottom of the coupler on the front fender.

I think all I need to do is attach the up-pipe and check to see if I need to rejet.

Will it work with a 1.5 riser?

It should be fine with a 1.5 riser, as long as you have a mass air chamber after the riser/inlet it will work. In your case 1.5 to 2 back to 1.5 and then to the air box, I can’t see what that shouldn’t work.
Then again, I thought mine would work, I need to fiddle with the carb.

Yeah that's what I was worried about.

The elbow in the last pic is just one I stuck in there verifying that the outlet coming out of the top of the fender was 1.5.

These fenders came off of an 07 basketcase I bought, and the front fender already had the hole for the snorkel in it with the coupler in place and a 2" rubber joint (they type with hose clamps) on the bottom.

I'm looking at going about pod light high with the riser. I ride in the woods a lot and don't plan on going over the seat anyway. Just had a fender with a hole already in it, and figured it would give me a little wiggle room on water depth when we're figuring out where to hunt.

Now I need to figure out if I want to pull the existing coupler off the fender and redo it all to 2", or simply use another rubber/ hose clamp coupler and put it on the outside of the bit sticking up out of the fender. That would give me a little flex if I hit something going through the woods.

As cheap as PVC is I might just get a foot or so and stick it in there and see how it does, not gluing it. If it starves for air I can take it back off.

I need to get a better pic of what the prior owner put on the fender. It takes a 1.5" PVC pipe on top, and has a 2" rubber coupler on the bottom. It sandwiches the fender between the two and holds it in place really well. I think the bottom has pvc up against the bottom of the fender sandwiching the plastic between PCV fittings, and then the rubber coupler was added to that.

Well I snagged a couple of feet of 1 1/2" PVC and stuck it in place just to try it.

Ran up and down the street a few times and the bike ran great, and when I put my hand over the snorkel it immediately starved and killed the engine.

What's the best way of testing this thing and making sure it's 100% sealed up?

I'm going to try to keep the 1.5" riser and hopefully it will work ok.

I’m sensing a mix of negativity, humour and sarcasm right here Shady

Jeep, I took my snorkel off and filled it up with water to test for leaks, when I fitted it I tested the airbox lid and snorkel to airbox connection with the hosepipe.

Well, I'm with Shade on using atv's as boats. I duck hunt on mine so I do ride in a LOT of water but I'm not one to want to go where it's over my boots.

In this case, I had this one torn down, and I have an 07 Foreman I bought to fix up and flip and the plastics on it were pretty rough and already cut for a snorkel, so I figured why not?

So I put the beater plastics on this one, snorkeled it, and it will be my hunting bike. I have no intentions of driving around with just my head and the snorkel sticking out of the water like I see people on youtube doing, but if I hit a beaver run on the way to the blind hopefully this will be enough to keep the airbox dry.

Will put my good plastics on the 07 to make it easier to sell. Have to do a build thread on that one when I get to it.

Took it for a spin yesterday. We blew the beaver dam last weekend so the duck hole was a complete bog and I didn't take it over the floorboards. Didn't want to hit a beaver run and get stuck/ sink it on the maiden voyage.

It pops a little in the exhaust when cold, but once it's warm it runs fine.

Should I try adjusting the air/fuel mixture screw or maybe go up a size on the pilot jet?
