Hi all... after years of not owning a honda, or any atv for that matter.... I finally found a great deal on a '90 trx300fw..it's going to be a trail machine, but more so a workhorse for hauling firewood, plowing my road, etc. I picked it up for $400..only needs front wheel bearings and a steering bushing... aside from that, it's mechanically excellent... plastics have one big crack in them, but I wasn't real worried about those anyhow... this is the first older 300 i've owned and this thing is friggin beast! here's some pics, let me know what you all think about the price I paid for it...

One of the things that really got me excited was the fact that it came with a practically new set of itp mud lites on it...

welcome to the family! nice , glad to see your back ridding a honda. very fair price, a set of tires alone could cost that much. if your a cable guy by trade, you must have some wire ties kicking around. drill small holes on each side of the crack and use the wire ties. it comes out looking like stitches. this will help the crack from getting larger. post a before and after picture, ride on bro.

Sweet little deal you got there. Kinda jealous that you got yours even cheaper than I got mine. Now you gotta start adding stuff to it and show all of us!

Is the blue plastic stock? Looks sweet. The "zip-stitches" always worked for me.

Thanks for all the responses everyone! Was hoping everyone would agree that I gotta good deal. lol As far as I know the plastics are all original to the bike... my buddy had one growing up and it was identical (except for the awesome itp's lol) I've got quite a few ideas as to what I'm going to do cosmetically,sandblast/paint racks and front bumper, add some new headlights, and either add wrap to the exhaust, or get a new one...but that's all down the road, just concerned with gettin the bearings and steering bushing for now so i can really take her out and do some ridin. Also in that last pic is a buddy of mine.. not me. lol also not my truck in the background...wouldn't own a 2wd around these parts heh heh.

are the rear bearings bad in the differental ?..or just on the brake side ?..you can still get either of them..as for the stearing bearing..that's gonna be tricky to get out..on top of the steem...is a seal..under that..don't miss the big c-clip retaining ring holding it in..other than that..nothing to fixing it...if your rear carrier bearings and differental bearings are bad....try not to ride it if posb, the brake cover washer will wear out the dust seal ( this is to say it's not done already ? )..then it will cause your brake drum to wobble..and eat your brake drum cover up.

it's both front bearings that are shot... and as for the steering bushing, it's non-existent so no trouble getting it out. lol as for the rear-end, I don't hear any noise, and no movement on the rear tires as far as toe in/out. Although i will say, one of the first things i did as soon as I got it home was drain both diff's and the xfer case and refilled with new 80w-90.. and the rear pumpkin had some, what I'm thinking, was mud in it so hopefully they didn't really run it like that and I'll get lucky there... but one of my buddies is the head mechanic for the local suzuki shop and does most work for me for parts at cost.

I agree with Helmut you got a great deal! I paid $1,000 for a 94 blue devil like yours and just found out it needs a front defferential that is going to cost me more than you paid for your whole machine. Good Luck with it.
