hello to everyone, I have what should be a simple question. I bought a '96 300ex off a friend and I noticed that my chain was loose, and when I lift up my backend the wheels move back and fourth. I figured that there should be some bolt to tighten and all I found was 1 bolt about a half inch long, and I can't do anything with it. I tighten it and loosen it and nothing happens. Normally I have always seen 4 bolts that u loosen and tighten and I have none. Can anybody gimme some pointers on this?

Welcome to the forums.... look on the back of the carrier you will see either 2 allen head bolts or 2 hex head bolts. loosen them and behinh the sprocket you will see the part of the carrier if you don't have the proper wrench a big pair of channel locks will work. turn it you will see the chain move tight or slack you want about 3/4" slack while you're sitting on it.
