Can I swap that little D brass piece with an external adjuster of some sort? It would be convenient. If so where? I saw some for other stuff but they list carb type etc and I have no idea. Should I even bother? My motionPro unit isn't here yet but I theory that'll do it with the carb attached to the quad...

You can buy a carb rebuild kit for a pre 05 400ex and get the flat tip mixture needle out of it. That and a motion pro fix you right up. As for the flex jet your talking about it is sadly for a 450r only. Wish it was for a 400ex haha.
