I’m looking to swap a motor from a 2006 rancher to a 2005. Does anybody know if they are the exact same or not?

They should be a direct bolt-in swap assuming each are the same model (TM, FM, TE, FE). Check Partzilla for interchange on all of the major electrical parts (main wiring harness, stator/flywheel, ECM etc.) before you begin though.
