Hey guys, just rebuilt a carb that sat for a couple of years. The 2005 trx300ex fires right up with the choke on let her warm up, turn choke off and she dies. :-( this was my first carb rebuild so lord only knows what could've went wrong... Any suggestions as to possible problems and their solutions would be greatly appreciated. If it helps: when I turn the choke of and give it throttle it runs pretty rough with some pops coming from exhaust. Not really a back fire per se but popping. Let off the throttle and it dies pretty quickly. Put choke back on and she fires right up.

It's pretty clean as far as I can tell. Replaced all the jets. The inside wasn't as bad as anticipated. Very little "shellack" inside.

If it's not the carb, then it's probably an intake air leak somewhere between the carb and the cylinder head. Once the engine is running, spray starting fluid in that area and listen for a change in idle speed.
