i wasriding my 2008 trx500 foreman today in a friends creeks and fell into a deep hole and the motor choked out. had to get it pulled out and would not re-start. no water got into the air cleaner box but i have a feeling water went up the exhaust at the angle the machine was in. i drained the oil and going to let it dry out overnight. any suggestions to what i should do before i try starting it again besides changing the oil and filter? i hope i didnt mess my motor up. thanks
The only sure way to get ALL the water out is to tear it down. Water can hide in places in the engine you would not believe. Other than that it takes about 5 or 6 oil changes to get the oil from looking milky. That is if it DID reach the engine.
