Jumped on the bike (in signature) yesterday and found out that I no longer need to use the reverse button/brake to put from N to R. This is actually more preferable for me. The only question I have is, does anyone think its a sign of a bigger issue?

Thanks

agreed, reverse cable is frozen, allowing you to shift into reverse without pulling cable/lever.

So it has nothing to do with the button that needs to be pressed down as well?

Mel , gives good advice , I have one of them cable lubers , I use the Yamaha cable grease comes out as a liquid and turns to grease , if the cable is really bad , any spray penetrating oil can that the tip accepts a straw can be used first till the rust and dirt is flushed out and working smooth and then apply the grease
