Has anyone here built their own dump bed for the back of their quads? My 86 Fourtrax has a rear rack and there are times a pickup style bed or dump bed would be really helpful.

Wondering if anyone has ever made one for their quad? Links, pics?

I've not seen it done on a four wheeler but on plenty of sixes. Guessing that's due to the size and possible weight of the load/loads. I'd be tempted to build a dump bed trailer rather than build an ATV mounted dump bed I think.

That would be slick, also i would be sure to design it as a temp mount, i have a good friend who had one of those back cages that used it on his farm, went riding on a rough trail and he didnt take that cage off the short of it, bike flipped and the top rail of the cage caught him in the back, sadly ........ He's now confined to a wheel chair ......I'd op for a small tag along lawn trailer or something along those lines....depending on the type of Terane you'll be riding on :)

I wouldn't put more on that rear rack than the manual states. That number takes into account frame geometry, strength and allows a factor of safety based on considerations we can't know.

Even a tag axle while novel and interesting would be a waste based on the small hp. Better off with a very smalltrailer

I think a few yrs back a few ATV company's MADE atv's with some sort of dump beds
but most don't
and its due to you can easily over weight the bed and be a safety issue when dumping,, if ground is un even, or going up a hill with a load in the back, you can tip an atv over pretty easy, center of gravity tends to be too high, for the narrower wheel base of them over say a UTV

way better idea is use a small trailer, can carry a LOT more crap in one LOL and be safe in the process!
