Honda 300 did not come with a oil cooler and most did not have any kind of cooling fan. I think it was an option but I'm.not sure.

I've never had a 300 get hot and I have so much sand/red clay mud around the motor before you could not even see it or anything resembling an engine. So don't worry about it if you plan to leave stock

Hi Jason, yes honda did offer a cooling fan kit , i think they did away with the kits in 98, i manged to find nos kit for my 99 300' frame still has the mounting brackets and funny you should post about this but 30 minutes ago i made the left side bracket that comes with fan, there is one on ebay, but hold onto you hat it list for 700 brand new old stock

I'm wiring mine to a weather proof toggle switch, and have mounted a temp gauge one clamped under the spark plug and the other attached to the bottom side of the engine close to where the oil temp sensor is, that ones highest reading was 140, so i think a fan would be real handy for engine pertection

I'll take some pics and post them soon.

I got mine because i haul lots of firewood in super low (lots of steep hills)

If you set on a honda fourtrax cooling fan, @Manny , and @Goober would be fellows to contact, some of our other members might have one gathering dust on a shelf, the fan brackets are the head ache to find, and I'll fab you the fan brackets for free, >but i need to know soon< If you want me to, also check here.

Strange that some of the USA 300's don't have cooling fans, every one I have seen here in the UK has a cooling fan.

yes please..
there looks to be a place ment for a fan right above the motor near the steering column
really nervous of it blowing up
but i know them old bikes were built to last
i was looking on ebay and found a 12v 6" inch 80 Watt Cooling fan
Would that be good enough guys?
please let me know your thoughts.

I have four 300s at work but none with fans. You might consider looking at some Harley Davidson fan kits. You'd still have to fab brackets but they are 12 volt -- mebbe they are not made for muddin tho
There's also the Love Jug kit (two fans) and the LaNale kit

@Goober as @Manny stated, i added mine because after i added the digital temp gauge , i was hitting head temps of around 300 + d f , @machinecrook and i both did ours about the same time, he he had his wired up (toggle) switch, I'll be doing mine the same way, engine savers IMO :) , and the heat blow isn't really all that bad, at least it's not on my trx 350d , when it cycles on.
