so i have been hearing a lot about people switching out their front stock suspension with the stock front suspension of a trx450r, or a yfz, or a kfx. I have been looking into this and was wondering if anyone here has done any of these mods? I would preferably like to hear about the yfz or kfx shocks. I already know the trx450 shocks will fit but im curious to know if the kfx or yfz one's will? so anybody anything?

Welcome to the Forums....I'm getting ready to swap for 400ex A-Arms and 450R shock on my 250X I have to use a conversion kit from Diamon J Customs, I don't think you need a kit at all all the quads you listed carry the same shock, Not sure on A-Arm styles but you shouldn't need to replace yours. good Luck

A-arm-shock geometry does not change. The only thing that may be different is the eye to eye length. All quads use the same angle on there shocks unless they are long travel.

With the Eye-to-Eye being different that would change the Geometric angle of the shock without an adapter system of some type therefore resulting in a compression issue possibly bending a shock rod or even worse an A-Arm...Correct???

Correct, you need to get a shock that is pretty damn close in length. I should have said same mathematical equation to come up with the angle. The geometry is based on ratios and crap. Not that I know what the equation is...

You will have to grind down the outside of the eyes just by a fraction because they won't fit the 400 as is.

I would use the trx450r shocks, there are alot of people that have done it and they are a decemt shock. I do know the trx450r shock will work on a Z400.
Im looking more into the yfz or kfz shocks. I hear they are cheaper and better.

The grinding on the top of the shock shouldn't hurt anything. Grindon the bottom too much might. on hondas 450 shocks, it doesnt need to be grinded as much as other companies.

450R shocks can be revalved to fit your riding needs and you would have alot better product than stock Yammi or kawasuckie
