I purchased a 99 foreman 450 this past spring and it has been running great. Last week I noticed that the front left inner cv boot was completely severed. So now I need to do something to fix it. Any recommendations or words of advice? Can anyone point me to a great place to find instruction (assuming that this has been answered before). I dont want to break the bank but is there a brand that is recommended? Should I just replace the boot or the entire axel? Then if the entire thing, both sides?

Any advice would be super helpful so thanks for chiming in.

I would recommend removing axle cleaning/flushing the grease out of both CV’s repack with grease (lithium/Medium Moly) and fit a pair of new boots.
You’ve got to get the axle off to replace and pack the one CV so you may as well do the other while it’s off to get the most out of your axle.

The above is assuming your axle is in good condition. If you need a replacement I would opt for OEM or used OEM from PSN, powersportsnation.com

I would replace the shaft , I have done the boots before and for the little $ you might save it is a messy time consuming job and you are still running axle with wear on it , might last , might not -----I have been running after market axles on my Red 450 since I built it with no problems and I don't remember the brand name , PM me , I can give you a phone number of someone knowledgable of whats available out there and he will give you the best price you will find , ship it to you and it won't be Chinese

with it being 19 years old ?, i'd replace both front axles, oem from honda. partzilla or rocky mountain atv is where you can look. I see members here saying used, but !!. this job of replacing them can be tough if the axles are stuck in the differential ( as in..never been replaced or serviced ), and the job of removing them will take a few hours, its not something i'd want to do all day and night !..lol. once I tear into a job like this, i'd only want to do it once !..lol.
