Hello everyone,

My name is brad,

I'm wanting to make some Fellow Honda owners aware of a Potential Scam I found this week...

I'm attaching an email to an individual who is selling 2 2006 Honda Rubicon 500s, after market winches and 26" tires. very nice looking.
Found this posted on Craigslist in Charlotte NC, which is worth a drive for these two beauties.

**** Potential SCAM ****

If you email the individual you will see the awesome pics of the two quads and the unwillingness to have a cash transaction, and 3 grand for two 06 Rubicons. SWEEEEET NOT

Hello,

Thank you for your interest in purchasing my 2 ATVs with trailer. The 2 ATVs are in perfect condition - like new! If you decide to buy them, you'll receive all the papers, owner manuals, keys, trailer, a buy-sell contract already signed by me and the clear titles. For this transaction I want to use ebay because I want to provide you a fast and very secure way. They will handle the transaction for me. You will make the payment to ebay and they will hold the money until you receive and inspect the 2 ATVs. ONLY AFTER you receive the 2 ATVs and you inspect them (you have 5 days for inspection) ebay will release the payment to me. The inspection time period will begin as soon as you receive the 2 ATVs at your address. Meanwhile eBay will hold the money into a trust account. So, this is not a blind transaction, you can see the 2 ATVs with trailer before you decide to buy them. This way we are both protected : i will know that i have a serious buyer who has the money to pay me and you will be able to see and inspect the 2 ATVs before buying them .

The 2 ATVs with trailer are priced to sell quickly and the final price that I'm asking for them is $3,000 including shipping and handling costs. My husband died in Iraq 3 months ago and I along with my daughter decided to sell the house and move to my sister. I can't afford to take days off my work for this sale so i'm trying to sell them online.
If you are really interested in purchasing the 2 ATVs with trailer please send me your full name, shipping address and your phone number. Ebay will give you all the details regarding the shipping and payment.
I will appreciate an answer as soon as possible.

Regards!

Christa McManus

P.S.: Below you will find a full desription and the pictures i have taken for this sale. Please take a closer look before you decide.

The 2 ATVs are at eBay's shipping center in Las Vegas, NV and from there it will be shipped to my buyer's address. The 2 ATVs have been listed for sale in an auction on eBay but I have removed the add because of some 'serious' buyers . They promissed they will buy the 2 ATVs from me but they proved not to have the money to pay for them .I have registered the 2 ATVs with eBay's Vehicle Protection Program and they work only with das auto shippers, so a local pick-up is not an option. This transaction is covered by ebay's purchase protection program up to $50,000 and if something goes wrong in this transaction you will be fully refunded. In the invoice you will have the details on how to make a refundable payment and shipping back the 2 ATVs will be my concern. I strongly assure you it will not be the case for a refund. I have used the eBay Vehicle Purchase Protection in the past and all my transaction ended succesfully. You pay to eBay and they will transfer the funds to me only after you get the 2 ATVs. Shipping will be door to door, to your home address, somebody must be home when the 2 ATVs arrives.
PayPal can't be used in this transaction because it only covers $2,000. You will receive instructions to pay through another payment system.
I apologize if it seems like I'm pushing on this deal but I really want to be sure that everything is clarified before any further steps. Please let me know if some of the terms don't fit you or if you have other questions. I'm a serious seller and I prefer to deal with a serious buyer.

If you wish to proceed with the purchase, please provide me your full name and address so I can initiate the deal through eBay right away.

I am looking forward to hearing from you.

That is kind of the same thing that a lady was telling me about a Jeep Rubacon. Its in Ga and ready to ship 2004 Jeep for $2,900
This is the email I got from here. This is on craigs list not ebay
I am located in Atlanta, GA and the car is already at the shipping company in Atlanta sealed and ready for the shipping. The shipping is free. I am located in Atlanta, GA and the car is already at the shipping company in Atlanta sealed and ready for the shipping. I have a contract with eBay so this deal must go through them. According with eBay you have 5 days from the time you receive the car to inspect it and decide if you want to keep it or not.
Here is how it will work:
1. First of all I will need the following details from you:
- Full Name
- Full Shipping Address
2. After I will receive the details from you, I will forward them to eBay.
3. After they will process your info, they will send us both invoices. The invoice will send you the details on how to make a refundable payment.
4. eBay will contact me and I will ship the car to you. After you receive the car you will have 5 days to test, verify and do whatever you want with the car. If you will buy it, then I will receive the payment details from eBay so that I can pick up the money.
5. If you will decide that you will not buy the car, eBay will refund the money and I will have the shipping company come pick up my car. If you wish to make the transaction, please send me the necessary info so that we can proceed. I look forward to hear from you

That scam about the 2 ATV's or one similar comes up about once a week on every craigslist around the country. You can typically tell because the price will end in an off amount [2079.00 instead of 2100]. You can also tell because the pictures will not look like your area. Palm trees and sandy soil instead of dirt and oak trees, etc.

If you think something is too good to be true, it is. Flag the ad as spam and if it dissapears within 20 minutes you'll know it's a scam.

I frankly think those who fall for the scams deserve what they get. I mean, it's not rocket science to figure this stuff out. How stupid can you be?

Don't get me wrong...taking advantage of the elderly [as example] in some of those scams is terrible, but if you fall for a scam by surfing the internet when there is so much information about the dangers is pretty sad.

Don't put your name, number and address on the internet....ever.....and don't send money to anyone for anything. Is that so hard?

I was screwing with a guy that posted 2 '07 Rincons and a trailer, with about 15 pics, for $2800. Deal had to go thru eBay because of a contract(?) they he had with ebay. Would not accept cash. Add was on Greensboro, NC craigslist, so I told him that I wanted to see the bikes and trailer. Well things changed believe it or not and the deal was for 2 bikes and 4 helmets and I could not see the bikes because they were at a shipper in Topeka, KS. Told him I had a business trip a week later in Wichita and could swing by. He said no the bikes were already sealed for shipping. My last email said I smelled BS and I have not heard back from him. By the way the bikes belonged to his son and his son was killed in Iraq 4 months ago. Sooo.... as they say "If it sounds too good to be true..."

I would never even consider buying anything that I couldn't go look at first.
