Howdy have recently commissioned a 90s something trx bigred quad, and after doing the usual maintainence of changing fluids and filters then degrease, a small oil leak high up above kick start has been discovered and it appears too be a casing gasket.
Is this an easy fix for the average handy mechanically minded man any thoughts appreciated thanks

Well that’s a bummer but at least it’s high up on the case.

Well I can tell you that I would try may not be the best thing:
Retorque the bolts. First I would spray Deep Creep on all the bolts. Then I would read up on the torque values and buy a 3/8 inch breaker bar and just barely break the torques.
Then I would retorque the bolts.

My old Harley started leaking one winter—I’m sure she was PO’d I didn’t ride her to the rally that year. Anyway that’s what I did and it worked.

common for them to leak right there. you can source up a new side cover gasket ?, try tightening the cover bolts in that area ?, or, pry the cover off, put some hondabond or yamabond ( light coat ) on that gasket area, and see if it still leaks ?. you can down load the service manual from the site here for your atv.

Thats the exact location of my clutch cover leak. I have a new gasket here ready to install. Do you guys recommend just gasket or applying a small layer of honda bond plus the gasket????

just gasket, you can if ya want ?, lightly coat the gasket on both sides with some engine oil before you install it.
