Hello!

I'm hoping that someone can help me on this issue.
I was out riding when all the sudden my rancher 400 would not shift and started giving me a problem code of 12. After following the instructions from the Hondamatic in the service manual, I replaced the ECM. After replacing the ECM, I started it up to perform the initial setting procedure and it popped another 30 amp. I put in a new one and went through the Initial Setting procedure. After completing the initial setting procedure, I took it for a test drive, it would not shift and gave me a Problem Code of 5. When I disconnected the Angle Sensor, I checked the voltage on the connector and got 0.

Does anyone know what the voltage should read on the connector? Also, do you think that I blew the ECM after I installed it and then blew a 30 amp? I'm hoping that I do not need to purchase another ECM after just installing a brand new one.

I would appreciate any help!

Just about everything that is published for the Hondamatic electronics troubleshooting is in the factory service manual. I'm guessing that you have a copy already since you've been working on it...? But if not you can find a copy HERE to print out for reference.

Hi: The angle sensor has 5 VDC on it to ground. Disconnect the shift motor connector and check for 12 VDC when trying to shift. The 30 amp fuse that is blowing is for the shift motor ???
