Hello my name is George Davis I have a daughter (Kayla 850) thats 19 years old 105lbs that races a 2006 TRX450ER we have gone to four national races and shes curently in 10 place in the ITP moose series. The problem were having is that since we bought this 450 we have gone through at least 7 sets of clutches. She was in position to finish in 5th place at red bud sunday when she smoked them again. We had Mark from baldwin motor sport double check my adjustments at steel city when she smoked a set after just one lap. Is there better clutch plate that I can buy other than stock ones? and what's causing us to go through so many clutches? Is it the way she rides? My adjustments? or does everyone have this problem? Everyone I ask says they only replace them once a year sometimes every two years. I've also heard the at the pro level they replace them after every moto is this true?

I need some suggestions in Pennsylvania

What does your daughter look like?

LOL...Jk. Welcome to the forum. Maybe you should try using Hinson racing. I don't race but I've heard good things about them.

X2 on the Hinson you can also try Moose racing for clutches, Dennis Kirk, are you soaking the clutches before you install them?? also you want her quad to disengage at about half lever travel not right at the begenning that makes them grab quick and wear out quicker as well.

Yes I soak them before I install them. I adjust the rod end free travel to where I have 1/8" to 1/4" gap at the lever everytime she rides it. I use the honda oil, and I make sure the lever on the motor is at 90 degrees. If not I make the adjustment at the motor instead of at he lever.

Its gotta be her style. If you say the adjustments are right. I had a 450, it was an 04 I ran on the same set of clutches for about two seasons of riding and I replaced the clutch when I bought it with a stock honda unit. I sold it to myy buddy and he goes threw a clutch every 3 or 4 months and he even went to a Hinson, it did not help him. He hates it but I know of people with bigger builds on thier motors that dont have the issues. Tell her to hold it wide open and don't use the clutch...LOL

4 foot 11 inch 105 lb blonde come to loretta lynn's ranch and check her out she's fast just can't get the clutches to last. P.S. She has a boy friend (BIG BOY FRIEND)
4ft 11? I'm a whole foot taller. lol. Nah man I'm 16. I wonder why these 450 clutches wear out so fast. These things are like 2 strokes with all the damn maintainence. That's why mine is fo sizzell. :p

Try getting her a short lever one where she can only use 2 fingers on it really sounds like shes riding the clutches pretty hard if you can lessen the amount of fingers on the lever and put more on just the grip itself you might see a differance??? I ride with my index and middle finger on the lever but that just me?? I tossing suggestions out.

Agree^^ I think the riding style may have something to do with it but thats just a guess.Rig up a helmet cam on the bars facing the clutch lever that will tell the story.P.S Welcome to the forums!!

Thank you

Thank you all for the suggestions, I agree that it must be her style. I'm going to have her practice without using the clutch at all and she how things go. I've also heard of some people shorting the push rod to the outer plate. Any comments on this?:)
