What tires are you wanting to run? Get the EPI clutch kit with highest stall. I think its extreme?

right now I have 26" vampires. 26x8 front 26x12 rear and I think the rear tires are just draining the power all around. im looking into some 27x9.5 outlaws for next spring but I just want better low end torque

I will suggest clutch it first with the EPI kit. And check your valve clearances, air filter, spark plug, etc to make sure you have a strong running engine.

No I do not know. Check in manual section on here and there should be one for download. I need to do my Ranchers valves soon.

i had the same question about gear reduction, and i emailed high lifter and they told me that they dont make a gear reduction for the 350, and the other applications they have for the ranchers wont work.i have a 05 350 with 27 inch mud lites and was thinking of doing the same because of the tire height.

If you do a reduction do not waste your time on a clutch kit. We tried it on a 300 with clutch kit and reduction and it made it hard to ride.

jwhite , I have a 450FM , it has a 300 clutch basket in it , the reduction is like 18% , it was plug and play , no welding , that 400 should be real close to the same thing ---- go to a parts site and see it the clutch and primary are the same in a 400 and 450

05 Rancher 400 is a completely different machine than the 450 Foreman, you are probably thinking of the 400 Foreman fish, which would have to be a 95-03 model. That 300 basket and primary gear is good for 14% GR, if you wanted 18% you'd need the gears from a ATC250ES (1985). I haven't completely figured it out yet, but I know if you put the basket gear onto the 450's basket you can use that and get the 18%, you can't use the 250 basket because it doesn't hold as many disks. However the difference between the two gear sets is in the primary gear, one less tooth IIRC on the 250, so you might be able to just use the 300 basket as a unit, then the 85 250 primary gear. I don't know if they will mesh correctly though so I need to figure that out.

But we are getting off topic. I guess that's more interesting than the actual answer to the question. There is NO gear reduction available for the 400AT, what you have is as good as it gets.

If you need a gr, I got mine from Jeremy Lee. You can find him on facebook and contact him from there. Just my 2 cents. Overall, I am very happy with my 35% gr.

Haha it is stored somewhere man, all in my head. But your right, this stuff really should be put down somewhere, probably on paper because you never know, forums disappear too.
