So i read the service manual on how to adjust the up and down free play on the clutch lever. I did as follow and i obtained the right amount of free play but not sure if my clutch engages at the right point. It seems that it engages little to far out from the grip any suggestions . This is on a 2000 400ex.

the way i adjust my clutch free play is..i'll go to first gear..and at idle..if it tries to creep forward..then it's to tight..your bike shouldn't creep at idle..thats how i do mine anyway.

Shadetree, he's not talking about adjusting a centrifugal clutch. He's talking about a 400EX.
