I understood you can could charge an ATV whilst still connected. My battery was not dead but I had not used it for a while - it was still able to start motor before attempting to charge it. I charged the battery and it will no longer start. The lights still work so am guessing I have burnt out a fuse or component - any suggestions. Thanks in advance

Some chargers put out more than 15 volts which is not good, but it takes at least 18 volts to damage components.
The battery could have been damaged by sitting a long time at low voltage, and that first start put it over the edge.
Buy a new battery and a trickle charger.
