I eventually want to run 10" or 12" wheels all around, same width front and rear. To do this, I need to ditch the 4x144 bolt pattern up front.

What are my options?

Adapters up front? Will other hubs w/ different patterns fit the 400EX?

I know the 87 250X had 4X110 front bolt pattern and those hubs will fit a 400ex I'm sure

Are you sure? That seems like an awfully small hub. My front is 4/144 and the rear is 4/110. I can't imagine your front hub being that small.

Pardon the poor pics I took these with my phone. the first pic is the stock fron rim and tire

This isn't a very good pic but this is a rear wheel off a 400EX with ITP Holeshot

This is with a 10" ITP SS wheel on the front stock 9" reas will not fit due to the brake and rotor (the stock 400EX wheels are in the left of the photo)

Here is the front face of the SS wheel see it fits! LOL you may have to remove the rotor cover or go to an 11" wheel

I hope this helps? visuals always do

All Honda utility ATVs have a small bolt pattern, front and rear (4/110).

this isn't a utility. its a 1987 250X frame they carried the same front/rear pattern as the utility, however my 1991 has 4/144 fronts

Yeah, I know, but I was just saying that the Honda utilities have the 4/110 bolt pattern.

Oh my bad bro I wasn't trying to argue I thought you may have misunderstood me or I simply misunderstood you.lol. I guess they changed it in 89 so you could use any rim from a sport quad?? IMO

No problem, man. Yeah, I was just bringing up the point that all Honda utility quads had the 4/110 bolt pattern, front and rear. Yeah, I can see how you thought I misunderstood you.
