Last winter was a b*&%! in Iowa and have been setting up my Rancher 400 AT a little different this year. I have a house in town which I don’t use the atv much but also have an acreage with a 300’+ dirt/rock driveway. I have a 48” Cycle Country blade with winch lift and stock tires. Last year I couldn’t push over a 6” fall before losing traction or getting pushed sideways. What can I expect with putting chains on the front and back. These are the chains I bought Extreme Max Atv V - Bar Tire Chains, Atv, Extreme Max at Sportsman's Guide Good price and seems like a good heavy chain. Do you run bungees on your chains? Post your pictures and info please. Do you push straight or angled?

I live on a farm in Virginia and not to dissimilar to you we have a long dirt driveway. I don't have a utility atv but my family has a large 4x4 tractor that we use to clear the driveway in the winter. We use chains on the back tires for extra traction. We generally use heavy duty bungee cords to keep the chains on. We have them on both the inside and outside of the tires and have never had a problem with them falling off, however a tractor doesn't go as fast as an atv so if you are going to use chains this winter I wouldn't go out of second gear personally for they might fly off and damage you atv. What do you mean by push straight or angled?
