Need some help, having trouble adjusting the chain on my 2001 400ex. I have loosened the bolts on the bottom of the bearing carrier but can not get it to move forward or backwards. Reading this out of a clymer manual. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Just to the right(when looking from the back) of the rear sprocket there is a round disc with notches in it. You need to rotate that back. Or are you saying that won't move?

I thought that was the case but not very clear in the picture in my clymer manual. So I need to use a screw driver or something of that sorts in the hole to rotate towards me if I am sitting at the back of the atv to tighten up? It did feel a litle tight like it did not want to move, any suggestions if it will not budge?

It may be adjusted all the way back. U=How old is the chain? Can you rotate it forward?

Not sure how old the chain is as I traded a dritbike for this ride a year ago. Going to be a project to tear in down at the end of the summer to rebuild from the ground up. Should I be able to move that with my hand or a screw driver in the slots?

Great picture by the way, they need one like that in the Clymer manual.
Thanks.
